We live in new terraced houses with small gardens and everytime our neighbours go in there garden for a cigarette , there cigarette smoke comes through our kitchen window and patio door into our lounge . Being non smokers ourselves we find the smell very disgusting . When the weather is nice it is only natural to open windows and doors but why should we be subjected to inhaling the smoke ?
Does anyone have any information regarding the above .

Tell them. They must smoke a lot though, or very close to your windows - my OH smokes in the garden and the smoke never comes indoors.
You could ask them politely if they would smoke their weed at the bottom of the garden!
Unsure what information you are looking for. Sounds unpleasant. Maybe you can install an extractor fan and use it in preference to just opening a window ? If feeling flush, maybe an a/c system !
There's probably traffic fumes as well , and if they had the nerve to paint the fence you'd probably smell that as well .
and their cooking
and even the flowers in their garden .

there are some splendid uninhabited islands in the pacific ocean .
I agree that you should mention it to them politely and in the meantime, can you increase the height of the fence or grow some thick trailing plants up it?

These would both deflect the smoke to a certain extent and at least get it up and over your windows.
you're allowed to smoke on your own property. Bad luck about prevailing winds and all that, but maybe you should install extractors.

Meanwhile, fart in their general direction to teach them a lesson.
Have you mentioned it to them? perhaps they're unaware that the smell is spreading into your house. I really have no idea what information it is your looking for. Alternatively, when you first notice that they've gone for a ciggie, close the window and patio doors for 5 minutes until they go back in. I don't really see this as a problem - it doesn't appear they're doing it deliberately and you don't appear to have politely told them it happens...
We have the same problem! Our neighbours sit on there bench by there patio door and the smoke blows through ours, have mentioned it to them and they have a signal to let me know so i can shut the door. just a quick whistle but it worksx
Unfortunately, living in close proximity to other people means we have to put up with some of their less than pleasant habits. For instance, my neighbour has a log burner that he lights every night so every night our garden and our house (i have the back doors open) smells of wood smoke. Equally I can imagine that he might get a bit p'eed off every morning about 10am when my chickens lay their eggs and have to let the whole world know about it.

you could have a gentle polite word. However if they decline to do anything, there is nothing you can really do.
Tell them to PULL their socks or the police will be DRAGGED into it.Their smoke tends to FILTER through your windows .Tell them you are not being high and REGAL but if they dont STUB it out it will cost them a PACKET .
swap houses
My mother has the same problem in her flat with the male smoker below. I can not give you an answer; I would only ask the same question myself.
get a fan and direct it at the offending window/door - better than falling out with neighbours
If you are uncomfy saying to them, try a fresh air globe or an air purifier xxx
laughing at weecalf's answer ! BUTT I have to agree! x
Could you not put up some decorative screening or perhaps grow a nice jasmine up the fence to buffer the smell.
You can't do anything as they're smoking on their property. I would be particularly unimpressed if anyone knocked on my door to ask me not to smoke in my garden regardless of how politely they asked so I don't think I'd advocate that either.
Tell them to go down the pub. That will be completely smoke free, and it's a fair bet that it will also be empty.
weecalf's reply is ridiculous!

As of yet smoking is not illegal, less so when it's on someones own property. The police will laugh if you complain about this to them.

Gotta be honest, I find it hard to believe that cigarette smoke will travel that far, are you sure you're not being slightly over the top about it packardbell?
Well it looks as if I'm on my own here but if my neighbour asked me nicely to not stink their house out with my smoke I would move a few feet further away from their house and smoke there. Why wouldn't you try and resolve the matter if you could? Why make an enemy of your neighbour?
