Boundary or Boundry

The boundry between two buildings appears to be spelled without the letter "a"
With the cricket boundary however the "a" seems to appear.
Are these not the same word ?
Is this an either or situation ?
Can any one enlighten me please ?

I think that you have found a spelling mistake. The English word 'Boundary' is always spelled with an 'a'.

Thanks Bookbinder I Googled that before posting and there seems to be quite a few misspellings of the word.

googling just shows you how other people spell it, it doesn't show that they're right. Try googling "define boundry" and it'll soon show they're wrong.

If there were a word, boundry - which there isn't, as indicated above - it would presumably have been constructed on the same sort of basis as banditry. That means the activities of a bandit, so I imagine boundry might have referred to the activities of a bounder or maybe even jumper. If so, there will be loads of it going on in the Olympic stadium in a few weeks with high-boundry, long-boundry, pole-boundry and so on.
