Anyone here own an actifry?

Hi I'm thinking of getting a tefal actifry and just wondering if there's any owners on here that may be able to answer some questions.

I'm starting a new fitness regime so the idea is a good one, thing is I tend to cook a lot of oriental foods that need frying, like chicken katsu or Chinese battered chicken and pork. Will an actifry be able to do these, I'm just thinking the batter may stick?
And does it make really good home made chips?

Surely if you're starting a new fitness regime then anything with the word fried in the name of it should be the first thing to go.

However (just to be positive), Which? has made it a Best Buy - but say chips are more like oven chips than fried ones.

It is basically a frying pan with a device for constantly pushing the food round in circles to stop it sticking.

Mine hasn't been out of the cupboard for years.

There are serious safety concerns over this , many fires have been started by them. They work by blasting the chips with very hot air ,over 400 deg, while rotating them in a small amount of fat. If the motor doing the rotating stops or slows down the chips catch fire almost instantly. I actually thought they had been banned on safety grounds

I'm on my second one.The first one caught fire and I was assured it was a fault that had now been rectified but no compensation was given.I love the chips it produces as it only takes a very small amount of oil to make yummy cripsy chips.Don't use it for much else I'm afraid but if you google actifry recipies, you will find plenty. I've had this one about a year and so far it has been fine.

I have been reading a few reviews of the Actifry and it seems that a lot have caught fire. They do produce good food though and the best advice I have seen is 'do not leave it alone even for a few seconds while it is cooking' there are many reports that if the cooling fan has a problem they catch fire within seconds , so be very carefull.

i have had mine for about 2 years and i like it,was shocked to read they catch fire easily,i will have to be more careful,make lovely food though.

My daughter has one and cooks lost everything in it. She thinks it is fantastic.

Here is a comparson of the Actifry and the Airfry it seems to have lost something in translation but in general it says the Airfry is
better

we had an actifry.......don't bother.......replacement parts are very expensive....and you will need replacement bits........stay clear......

we no have a crisp and bake halogen oven.......best buy ever!
