Grass on mower wheels

Has anybody got a solution to this problem? When I mow the grass (motor) the back wheels pick up the damp cut grass then leave long treads everywhere. It's a pity as then the lawn looks a bit shabby. I can't rake them up as there's too much of a surface to do and if i were to go over it again to pick up these long treads I'd be on all day. Any solutions?

The advice is to wait until grass is fully dry before cutting it. I've just had the same experience as you. I just had to cut my back garden grass since it was 9" tall, and hadn't been fully dry in over a month. I unknowingly trailed a squigy mess of wet grass into the kitchen at the end of it. Wife wasn't too pleased.

Thanks for your answer heathfield. The problem is that unless I make sure I cut the grass at least once a week and at the end of a dry day it will always be damp. Just wondered if there's something to put onto the wheels so the grass doesn't stick...

You could perhaps spray some silicon on them Mr Sheen or similar, make them nice and slippy and maybe the grass wont stick.

Can you rake the grass prior to cutting to 'lift' the grass?
