I've had 5 phone calls from "International" and three "Unavailable" today.Every day I get at least 2.I don't answer them and no message is ever left. Just wondering where they come from.Perhaps if I answered I'd find out???

How do you know they are annoying if you don't ever answer them?
I'm getting the same and when you answer the majority of the time there's no one there but if you get connected it's someone who can't pronounce your name and is trying to sell something. Also very rude when you tell them you're not interested. Wish something could be done about it. I can be out, come back and see missed calls - nearly always these. practically daily.
Forgot to add , phone number has been registered as TPS for quite a number of years.
How come I never get any of these calls?

Annoying because they sometimes happen at mealtimes or when I'm busy. I just think if it's important they'd leave a message. I'll answer the next one and let you know what it's about, joeluke, and if it is annoying.
Whoever they ask for say you will fetch them then leave the receiver down by a radio playing music.

My phone number is also registered as TPS-So many people have been complaining about unsolicited calls even when registered that some action is being done about it.Can't remember if it's The Sunday Post or the Daily Express that's taking action.

Good idea,gness-maybe that'll stop them.
Someone did advise me that it's advisable to register with TPS on a regular basis, say once a year or so.
Question Author
Tried that, parkdale but I just got the message-already registered.
Calls from overses are not covered by the TPS.

Thanks,Ecclescake, for that info. That explains International calls. Wonder where the Unavailable calls come from.Probably abroad too
//I'm getting the same and when you answer the majority of the time there's no one there ....//

That is because a lot of these calls are computer generated - i.e. the computer rings your number - you pick up the phone . However all the salespersons are talking to other ' customers ' and so there is no one currently available to speak to you
Pass it to a toddler and tell 'em its Santa.
I just ignore the landline if I don't recognise the number...............1571 cuts in after a few rings anyway. Friends know to ring my mobile if it's anything urgent.
When I get these blasted annoying phone calls, I ask them for their home phone number so I can call them when they are having time with their family, they soon put the phone down. I received a call today and I asked them to take us off their mailing/calling list, they had the temerity to then tell me I had to writers to them asking for this, I went berserk! I had never asked the to call so why do I have to take time out of my day to write to the bloody idiots!
I registered with MPS and TPS and have a 'No Junk Mail' sticker on my mail box. Might as well be a hermit now :( Big arachnid complete with web has taken over the mail box and the phone remains eerily silent, I even pick it up occasionally to comfort my self with the dial tone. sad eh!
