Is there a rough average growth upwards of a yew hedge (normal type of yew)?

Yew is slow to take off but once established (2-3 years) it could grow about a foot a year depending on conditions. Don't trim the top until it's reached the required height or you'll slow it down....the sides can be lightly tidied to keep it bushy.
