Not to bad thanks. Are you going to have a go at making some reflector panels, it looks easy enough ?
Question Author
May as well give it a go.... I wonder if you cans still get at polystyrene on a roll? You know the thin stuff that you used to put under wall paper, just looked on the Home-base site and I can't see it... I thought a layer of cardboard+polystyrene+foil!
I had the house checked by British Gas in the summer and he said that the panels were the only improvement he could suggest!
Personally I would prefer lower bills!!!!!!

Lisa x
Yeah I think you can still get that stuff Lisa, have you tried B & Q or maybe a decorating shop. everybody wants lower bills Lisa.
Hi Lisa,

have a look at the links jom and giz gave me here, they might help

They seem to be offering free insulation here. It might be worth a look

Panic over lol

Just found an old pack of polystyrene tiles in the back of the cupboard under the stairs. So a couple of those behind the main rads, covered in foil should do the trick!

It is getting ridiculous isn't it! My estimated gas bill is £670 and I'm bu**ered if I'm paying that!
Right...off to turn the kitchen in to a scene from Blue Peter :0)

Oppps where did you all come from?

I had the check fro free insulation in the loft but mine is fine. I don't know why my house gets so cold. Its double glazed, well insulated but bluddy freezing!
Thank you Humber....off to look at that link now

Oooo that quilted stuff looks good but not cheap is it!
Thats the polystyrene on a roll I was on about though, going to give my idea a try for now with what I have to hand.

Lisa x
It's not, no, but you might get your money back in savings over a couple of winters.

Before you set to with the stanley knife, I think reflector panels are only supposed to be effective on radiators on external walls too.
Question Author
Thats very true about the quilted one.
I have made small ones already for the internal wall rads, but as you say theres little point really, lets call it a trail run ;0)
The awkward thing is, I have those stupid rads that are about an inch and a half thick and its hard to get anything behind them, but if I attempt to remove them I think the kids will leave home!

Lisa x
nooo,leave 'em fixed on! x
Question Author
Quick update.... made them for all of the internal rads.... Perfect. Made one for the dining room rad as it has a gap you can access.....Perfect!
Bought these for the others lol
