I had an exploding cream pot. Thuoght i had wiped it all up, but in three weeks car smelt to high heaven. Took out carpet from boot (not bad for a girl!) , have washed with vanish, biological washing powder in bath and hosed.... still stinky... any one any ideas please? Debbie W

Try sprinkling with bicarbonate of soda, leave overnight and then vacuum.  My sister swears by it for getting rid of pet-related smells from the carpet.
Spray it with a solution of vinegar and water and let it dry.  It helped a lot in my daughter's car when she spilt milk on the back seat!
Sorry - meant to say that it leaves everything smelling like a chip shop for a bit but that goes when it is dry!
If the previous remedys don't work try a pet stain and odour removal spray,  make sure you soak the backing as well as the tuffs of the carpet

The smell you have is from the bacteria.

You'll need something like Dettox Spray to kill the bacteria.

Used it when a carton of milk tipped in our car and it was sorted.
