I can smell a gassy smell around the house, it's driving me insane, it's definitely not from the cooker/boiler, it smells different, more fume like. No one else can smell it and they think I'm barking, any ideas what it could be.

Thanks RR

Doh, chaley? chalet.
I get that sometimes, we are in an old house - definite whiff but definitely not gas.
^^ PS if you havea gas fire do get the CO2 detector - you might remember that thread from micmak and jeza a couple of years ago, they were nearly overcome by fumes :-(

It's definitely given me a wake up call boxy, I'm nipping to B&Q in the morning to get one. All the gas stuff is in the kitchen, should I put the detector in there or where we sit mostly.
With our fire they told us to put it on the mantlepiece so it'd pick up leaks immediately - but have a look, things are more sophisticated these days, the instructions will be on the packing. PS B&Q is open today.....

Lol, I know boxy, I'm being very lazy today. I threw the terps out of the house, OH is taking it to the dump later on, the smell downstairs has disappeared, upstairs it's still there but a lot fainter so I've opened a window and hopefully it too will disappear shortly. Fingers crossed that's fixed the problem, I'm still going to get the alarm tomorrow, I was watching the news about the poor young woman that died through a faulty boiler.
If it is a musty type smell, check for water leaks.
I have just moved into a house with a funny smell and found the dtop tap leaking under floorboards.
Could be that, or wet rot !
