Scaffolding blocking out light
My mother (88) agreed for some scaffolding to be put up in her garden the company said it would be there two to three days maximum 3 weeks later it is still there blocking out all natural light she has to use electric all day ,the builders are using her garden for storage and have put there planks all over her veggie plot her eyesight is poor and she has to move around scaffolding to get access to her bins or garden are they in there rights to do this her house is a council property but the house they are working on when they turn up is a housing association I have complained to them on her behalf but would like advice on where I stand pls xx thanks Gypsy

She is being taken advantage of, and you should contact the local authority building works department to tell them.
Many scaffolding suppliers are notorious for doing this on council properties; they have contacts running all the time and they move the scaffolding from property to property on large estates, rather than having the hassle of disassembling it to take completely away. The 'cost' of hiring scaffolding is all in the labour of handling it, not in the value of the poles themselves.

Thank you for your reply's one man has come back today it seems he is working on the side of the house but to me this is just not good enough from her kitchen door she walks straight out into scaffolding to access her garden bins washing line etc its a accident waiting to happen as her sight is not that good as she also has to get around breeze blocks which they are storing there to me its accident waiting to hapen
I have spoken to my mothers landlord they had no idea scaffolding had been put up on there property and were not happy they are sending there inspectors as a matter of urgency
I tried yesterday to speak to the housing association really got peed off as they did not return any of my calls however today when I told them I had complained to my mothers landlord ( the council) had a responce straight away there surveyour is looking into the problem as I type
also spoken to the builder and you were right they only asked my mother for 3 day acess did not inform her landlord ( council) they said the wall they are working on has blown whatever that means and it will take atleast 4-6 weeks to repair so again Im not happy as they did not tell my mother but he did admit they knew this before they put scaffold up
just waiting for updates now from all partys concerned
