Car gets very misted up inside

I know all cars suffer from this but a relatives car seems worse than normal. Its a Honda Civic with a few years under its belt.

Any tips on how to cope with it?

Air Cond helps a lot. But not cheap and possibly not easy to retro fit ?
Aside from that lots of wipes/sponges.

Aircon on solves it immediately. Perhaps you need to check the filter (forget what it's called but somebody will know I'm sure.

Is there rain getting into the car? window seals, Have you checked the drain holes at the bulkhead ( Under the bonnet) are they clear? are the mats already wet? check the carpets Front & rear for wetness, if they are you could have rain or a pipe has come off the front / rear washers.

My car does the same. I just start the engine early.

There is no leak in my car.

It doesn't happen everyday. It all depends on the weather conditions.

Does it get worse rather than better when you put on the fan and heater?

If it does you may have a leak in the heater matrix

Iv'e had a few Vauxhalls in the past that used to do this, I put it down to lack of ventilation ( say when parked over night, worse in the winter).

i usually find opening the window a tiny bit helps with misting up but then people can see what your doing inside

open tubs of salt on the back seat and front seats overnight to absorb the moisture?

Aircon on (if you have it) really is the answer - it's amazing how many people turn off their aircon all winter & suffer with misting up.

It costs between nothing and bugger all to run aircon these days - using it through the winter also means that there is a much better chance that it will work properly when you need it for cooling in the summer.

Check that you have the inlet air setting on fresh air and not recirculating air, though recirc & aircon together should clear all windows.

My car does not suffer from condensation.

If you learn how to use your cars ventilation system poroperly neither will yours unless you have a wet and soggy interior with your car

I just got into my daughter's car after it has been sitting outside for two weeks. The windscreen was dripping. She said it has done this since she had a new windscreen fitted after hers cracked.

Is that likely?

Aircon and heating together is the best solution.

The aircon condenses the water out and the heater warms it up again.

Really excessive fogging is often due to heater matrix leaking.

Only seems to happen to mine overnight. Was cleared it doesn't mist up again.

After 2 weeks, to a point I would expect this with the weather we have had Chrissa, Do you know if the carpets inside the car was wet on leaving it stand? If so, that is the problem.
