I need to hire someone to do some repointing work but I've checked my local yellow pages and do not know who to search under. Would it be a building company?

There are specialist companies that do this all the time. One I can think of is "Gunpoint", but I don't know if they're in your area. If not, then go for a small firm. They'll likely be a little cheaper. Ideally a handyman. It's a simple job, but has to be done by someone with prior experience.

Yes any competent builder will be able to do it. Ask for recent references!
