This may be the wrong section, so apologies.
What I need to get are some small fixings:

They work in the same way as a staple
The top looks like a drawing pin
It has two 'legs' that, when pushed through, can be opened up and pushed flat against the surface to secure it.

I would feel a bit of an idiot trying to describe it in a shop, even if I knew which kind of shop to go to.
Thanks

I know what you mean so your description is good.
Is it not a butterfly clip... Brilliant for making puppets!
Paper fastener?
Stationery split pin fastener
I think I know what you mean annemollie, don't know what there called but I'm pretty sure you would get them at a stationers shop.
I thought they were just called metal paper fasteners.

I'd know what you meant too.
Can you give a better description of the item Anne, has it dropped / come of an Item of Clothing etc.

Split pins they are. Stationers it is. Thank you all so much.
We used to wear them as teenagers. If you had kissed a boy you wore it crossed at the back. If you hadn't, you wore it open. (Stupid really)

You made me laugh. I need it for an old puppet I bought a million years ago that the children play with. She has dislocated one of her legs.
