Light Bulb Keeps Blowing

When I switch on the light in one particular room it blows (if that's the right word) and makes all the other lights in that part of the house go off. I can resolve this by flicking the trip switch (again not sure if that's what it's called) in the electric cupboard but I have to replace the bulb in the light that originally blew.
This has happened about 5 times in the past month and I have got to the point now where I don't even bother replacing the bulb. It's just constantly off.
What would be the reason for this? Is it something as simple as the light fitting (which I recently changed) or would it be to do with wires and stuff? TIA

It started happening when you fitted a new "white piece" - so obviously it's incorrectly fitted or faulty - I strongly suggest you get a qualified electrician to look at it before you start a fire or electrocute somebody with the "wires and stuff".

Hopkirk, well that was my first thought, that it was a duff batch of bulbs, but it's still happening after buying new ones. They are not just going out though, they are blowing.
Canary, by boyfriend is coming round after work to supervise! :-)

we had the same problem, i thought it was the Asda bulbs i was using, even happened with another make. turned out to be a dodgy light switch, changed the light switch on the wall and the problem was sorted.

If they are incandescent bulbs then the quality seems to have fallen through the floor since the refusal to allow them gradually but replace them with the fluorescent ones. But since the issue arose after you refitted the white bit; disturbing the wiring is the most likely cause.

I had this problem with bulbs I'd bought from Argos..........waves to The Builder
