Could a mouse climb up an uncovered washing machine outlet pipe? Anyway, friend has one. She saw it running across her sitting room floor, next to the kutchen.
She lives on the second floor and had plumbing for washing machine done but hasn't got around to having the machine put in.
There have never been any mice before.
I tried Amazon to get a Rentokil mouse killer for her but they can't deliver to N Ireland - seems it's not part of the UK, which is news to me.
Can anyone suggest an effective trap for her little friend? Should she just get one of the traditional ones and bait it with melted chocolate or something else?
I know she's going to have hysterics on my shoulder again today.
The old fashioned mousetraps are the cheapest and the best and can be obtained from any hardware store.
Chocolate is a good bait to use - no need to melt it though.
I hate mice....they are so furry and mousey...urgh!
Thanks, everyone for the advice and the link to the humane traps.
I'll pass it on to her
Sandy, she's not in Belfast, so I'll suggest the local council to her if the traps don't work.
Could the mouse have come up the pipe looking for a warm billet?
They make my flesh creep. I don't want another outburst of hysterics!!!
Thanks, sandy. I told her that, but no, no, no! Wouldn't listen to me. Too busy crying- I understand that, but crying ain't going to get rid of the critter.
In the meantime, I'll get her to pop to the local hardware shop and get one of the old-fashioned traps.
BTW - did you know NI is not in the UK? As I said, it's news to me.
I knew there is a vote on Scottish independence in the pipeline. I didn't know we've had one and all voted to strike out on our own. I need to watch more TV news programmes. :-)
Not uk but part of GB....in queens speak ..United kingdom northern Ireland and our other realms and territories....that's how I used to write the parchment when I was scribe to ER in Scotland...
The little critters can do untold damage. I wouldn't be too concerned about being humane, pop off to the local hardware store and buy a couple of good old fashioned mouse traps.
Bee.....bad bad day yesterday...they didn't deserve to win.....well ...gulp.....done England......and Ireland....agree chocolate and good old fashioned trap by the way...
Please be aware that it is very unlikely to be a lone spinster mouse with no friends or relatives.
I am not an advocate of humane traps unless you are prepared to travel miles to release the critter.
In my student days I lived in a mouse infested hovel. A fellow housemate was an advocate of humane traps and caught a couple of mice. Before release, I marked them with a dab of nail varnish. She took them some distance away and released them. The same ones were back within 2 days.
Anne....I'm sure I put it right way round on the parchments....didn't go to the tower anyhow....must pop to Holyrood palace take shifty and check...lol
