Led Lights For Motorcycle?

As a motorcyclist I have noticed cyclists using forward facing flashing LED lights and these really get your attention even during daylight.As cyclists have the same problem, of not being seen by car drivers,as we motorcyclists,can I use these flashing LED lights on my motorcycle?

It's amazing around here to see a bike with any lights at all. seems to be a local pastime to set the kids a poor example and have no lights, and use the pavements.

That said, they can be noticeable if the flash rate is fast. In fact they can be distracting. But if the period is too slow I reckon one could lok at a junction, not see the bike because the light is off, look the other way, again see nothing, move out and WHAM !

I'm unsure if motorcyclist can use them as a replacement, but I'd have thought they could use them at the same time as a normal headlight. After all the light is also for you to see ahead with, not just to be seen, so a normal headlight just seems common sense to me.

They are illegal on bicycles (but the law is not enforced) - they are equally illegal on Motorbikes and I'm sure the law would be enforced ...

Thanks for those answers but does the fact that Triumph now sell a jacket with LED lights sewn in, affect the case at all?

I think the flashing ones would be illegal as would any that would dazzle or cause a disraction.

I believe flashing lights are illegal when fixed to the bike but legal on the person. Dickens was right - "the law is a ass"
