London Underground 'Power Surge'

How would a power surge injure people?  I don't use the underground often.

How easy/ difficult would it be to get out if there was an explosion?  I know it sounds stupid but I only use it once/ twice a year and am going to in two weeks and am now a tad nervous!

Hi natalie - looks as though it's not a power surge now. So sad. I used to work in the Nat West Bank in Tavistock Square (withing the BMA building) which it looks like just where the bus was when the bomb went off. That was in the days of fairly frequent IRA bombs, so we just used to get on with our lives, though used to be wary of seeing unattended bags. I think a lot now depends on who is responsible for these terrible crimes. I just feel so sorry for all those caught up in this.

Forgot to mention that there is a peace garden with a statue of Gandhi in Tavistock Square - how ironic.

I move to London soon also, permanently. To be honest, I'm really *****ed off! Not because I fear for my safety, but because I consider the place home and really love it. I feel terrible for what has happened and for these people, but as for making a decision to go....you have to consider the statistics. There are 14 Million people in London. About 100 maybe just got killed. That does not make it a more dangerous place now. A much greater part of a decision would be based around whether your health can withstand the polution.

It is a terrorist act going on, Sky News say 6 explosions, 3 of which on Buses.

I work behind Liverpool Street Station...it was a nightmare coming into work today... I have just heard that UBS have been evacuated as their building is on top of the underground and we might be too!!  Scary stuff...it's just awful.

I suppose we should count ourselves lucky it wasn't worse.  Compared to the Bali and Madrid bombings it's quite minor, injury wise.  They seem to be have been out to cripple the transport more than anything.  If the bombers had wanted to kill many people they would have targeted the Live 8 gig last weekend.  Still very scary though, these things really come out of nowhere.
