Can I ask perhaps what may be a silly question I will be owning my own house in August and have 2 spare bedrooms will I have to pay the tax. Thanks

but don't hold your breath, i have read that other changes are being considered.
No...unless you're on benefits.
Of course not Conn, it's your house not the councils.
Using the word TAX has got a lot to answer for, it's misleading.
it doesn't apply to anyone in private rented either apparently. Just social housing which seemingly is either local authority or housing association stock
That's the fault of the media. It was never a tax, and never will be. It may not be a good idea, but certainly is not a "bedroom tax". As can be seen here, the name has misled some.
So does that mean it doesn't apply to oaps - at the moment Or it does apply to oaps (now) if they claim housing benefit?
this has prob been asked,does this include those renting from private sector,as the guys next door to us,who seem to get 'everything' no questions asked,1 having never worked a day in his life(now in 40's)
It isn't a tax and if people stopped refering to it as such then perhaps there wouldn't be so many questions from owners.
