Are you allowed to put shredded paper in the normal paper/cardboard recycling? We are not allowed at work, it has to be collected by a separate company but I don't know why.
To be honest, Prudie, I only have two wheelie bins - a green one for normal household waste and a grey one for recyclable stuff (I know some people have an extra bin for garden waste, but I only have a yard as oppose to a garden). Therefore, I have no choice but to put my bagged up shredded paper in with the normal household waste.
Only 2 bins here, refuse and recycling. No shredded paper. Buy sacks for garden waste. 60p. Too expensive to hire a garden waste bin with a rather small garden.
I think the goal posts keep moving, shredded paper was permitted in the garden rubbish bin, now it's allowed in the recycle bin with glass ,plastic , paper and cardboard. According to the sign on the dust cart our council is one of the leaders in recycling.
Our council says 'No shredded paper', Their reason is that when they bale paper for recycling, it escapes too easily from the bales, and ends up all over the place.
