Did you know that crispy seaweed that you get from the Chinese takeaway is not actually seaweed...it's cabbage!!

We didn't have much in the way of foreign / exotic food when I was young. Mum wouldn't have pasta in the house as it reminded her of being force-fed tinned spagetti by the nuns in the convent during the war. Curry came in a vesta packet.
On the plus side we always had 3 types of sausage for Sunday breakfast: links, square and round.
Mustn't get Wolf onto the subject of our mums culinary habits.....

I remember being at a friend s house and bring Fed tinned macaroni in chess sauce. I thought it was dead posh.
Mum could make really good soups, mince based meals and stews. She excelled at all of these.
I remember her once made a Vests curry - she said that she had added a tub of curry powder to spice it up. :-( :-)
I thought crispy seaweed was seaweed. However I used to think that there was beef in beefburgers.
