Spotted an advert on local town website. no reason to beleive its fake - but then again.

House Sitter Needed - September

'Looking for some one to house sit for a week in mid. september. Will need to be available at the house between 3pm and 9am monday through friday of that week for 7 yr old who will be picked up and dropped off from school. 1 child, small dog and 2 fish will need to be fed and watered daily.'

I would certainly hope that this is someones idea of a joke and not a serious ad.
I am surprised that the website even allowed the advert to go on.
Surely no-one would be so stupid as to just go off and leave their child with a random ' childminder ' that they have found through the small ads, mind you when you see some of the excuses for parents that turn up on tv or in the papers these days, it wouldn't really surprise me.

it does say the child and pets will have to be fed, and the child picked up from school; it doesn't say they need to be cared for otherwise. It might be just someone who has an arrangement with a neighbour to pick up their kids and feed their goldfish, but who wants a week off.

If they have to be in the house from 3pm to 9am you can only assume that the child and pets have to be cared for.

To be fair you don't know what their vetting proceedure was going to be, plenty of people have live in housekeepers and Nannies and they do advertise in the small ads for them, and no-one turns a hair. I must admit it looks sloppy on the surface but without knowing much more I wouldn't be accusing them of neglect- that'd be when they expected the 7 year old to watch the house and feed the fish :)

I agree, sharingan, but on the surface, they seem more concerned with someone available to look after the house without any requests for references/police checks/qualifications etc for looking after the child. Most adverts would have the child as priority. I would hope

That's the thing. They are advertising for a house sitter not a baby sitter.

Even if no children were in involved, would you advertise the dates your house would be empty? I know it doesn't give an address but assume you would have to know where it is if you applied for the job.
