I have a shower pump which connects to the hot tank and the cold water tank in the loft. This pump switches on when you turn on the shower and off when you turn the shower off. However, sometimes when you turn the shower off the pump keeps running and I have to actually switch the power off to the pump. Faulty pump? Lack of water pressure? Something else?

we have got exactly the same problem at the moment, but are waiting for my brother who is a plumber to come and fit a new bathroom suite for us, so we are just suffering the problem for the time being and having to physically turn the pump on/off at the power. my brother has confirmed that it is a pump problem, ours is a Stuart Turner pump and the previous pump we had was the same, although they are very good at sending out parts to fix it

possibly a reed valve sticking maybe hard water?

The pump is controlled by a flow switch. When you turn on the shower the water flows and is detected by a flow switch near the pump which turns on the pump. It seems the flow switch is faulty.
