I always find Sainsburys curries are good and I noticed they do them in tins which would be good camping food with some rice

Thanks sj, if I was to buy the microwave rice in a bag or container pre packed could I warm it up on a bbq, or if i got fresh from indian/ chinese counter and added a little water, would we dnd up ill, rice is dodgy, just thinking outloud.x
I would NEVER try to "warm" cooked rice...unless done thoroughly in a microwave. If you want rice, cook at the time!
They have sachets of rice at the supermarket - Uncle Ben' and own brand. I'm pretty sure they're boil in the bag which would be handy.
When I went off to a country house to do some work on it with no electricity or water rigged up and only a camping gas stove we ate tinned food. Not the best maybe healthwise but at least no risk of food poisoning. We had ravioli, stuffed canneloni, potatoes (which we sometimes fried up), chilli, tinned lentils, beans with sausages ... so long as you get good bread everyday you can eat anything....
Where are you camping? Wouldn't it be an idea to visit a supermarket at your destination?
Just realised you have charcoal bbq! Can you boil things on a charcoal bbq?
Perhaps you'd take some of my courgettes Josephine? I have a glut!

Yeah can boil on a charcoal, but do not want to get dodgy guts, we are goingI to reading festival, just need some advice on things to cook tin wise, or air tightly sealed, ummmm there is a market in a tent, but iif you get there by 8.30 there is not a lot of bbq stuff to choose from, and not only that its a good half mile treak, thanks all 4 trying to help me, might have to go with tins of chicken in sauce, with noodles, which daughter will hate, but I cant pay 13 quid a meal 3 times a day for 5 days

Sorry 4 spelling I am on a tablet, the thing is I dont know how long I can keep the charcoal going boiling, then dying out, pluss everything has to be dispossable, I bought foil chinese containers, no chance of washing up, wet wipe wash, x
My son will be there :-)

What about fresh pasta you get from the supermarket? It only takes a few minutes to cook.

I would highly recommend one of these.
packet bachelors pasta with sauce, just add hot water and chop in a tin of frankfurters, heat through.
Josaphine....if you want rice...Veetee Dine In keeps without any need for cooling and can be stir fried in two minutes...it's quite nice too.
