Repainting Metal Railing

Does anyone have any idea how to work out how much paint to buy when repainting metal railings. The railings are fairly narrow about 10 cm apart and 45cm tal and the fence is about 20 metres long. I hope to get by with one coat and planned to use Hammerite multi purpose metal paint with hammered finish

A usual rule of thumb is to regard the fence as if it were a solid board, and calculate the paint requirements accordingly.
