It's OK for THEM but not for US.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/man-cashes-cold-caller-pests-184602754.html

This guy has set up a Premium Rate telephone at home and gives the number out to all utilities/businesses websites etc. (but not personal friends/family). And as a result he made quite a lot of money.

BUT now the Regulator advises against it because "this is not what the Premium Rate system was designed for". No, it was designed so businesses and Government organisations can screw us, but we can't reciprocate. Typical commercial hypocrisy.

he's one of those irritatingly clever people who I look at and think "I wish I had thought of that". Clever boy.
Nice idea! Boo to the Regulator!
The Code of Practice sets out the rules and regulations for every company involved in providing premium rate services in the UK.

Note the word company.

If Phonepayplus are anything like most of the other Regulators, then they're a waste of space.
It's only advice though.

Anyway I thought getting money off of the caller, who is expected to know it's a premium rate, is exactly what these numbers are for. The callers want valuable information such as will he buy what they're trying to flog, he charges for telling them no. Fair enough.
