Gloss pain stains

My patner kindly repainted my hall, but being his usual messy self, got gloss paint on the carpet. Is it possible to get it out, or am I going to have to get a new carpet?! All suggestions gratefully received!

If there is a lot of paint and it's dry then sorry but you have no chance. If its dry but there isn't much of it try rubbing it with sandpaper to remove the paint from the ends of the carpet tufts. If it's still wet then get up the excess with kitchen paper and gently dab at the area with whote spirit but don't be tempted to rub. Whatever you do don't cut or trim the affected tufts - all you will get is a bald patch!

Paint stripper, will work if all else fails.  You can buy paint stripper in little plastic pots with a dabbing sponge built in.  Or put a bit of paint stripper on a folded rag and rub in.  Best to wear rubber gloves and open a window (though paint stripper is not very toxic). 

There is a good chance that using paint stripper to remove dry gloss paint from a carpet will discolour the carpet. Try it on a discrete area first.
