Using Washing Up Liquid For Cleaning Upvc Double Glazing?

I was researching UPVC double glazing repairs on the web and read on a couple of sites that under no circumstances should you ever use washing up liquid for cleaning your double glazed windows, as it's supposed to be bad for the seals. I've never heard of this before. Is it true?

Oh dear.!!! I have always used washing up liquid and white vinegar to clean my windows. Have had my double glazing for 17 years.

Never heard of it - sounds like the sites are trying to sell you some special cleaning liquid, IMO!

Yes a load of botox to get you to buy an expensive product. I use washing up liquid on the double glazing and in 15 years it has done no harm.

I don't know, i haven't heard it before either, but i use some washing up liquid in water and haven't had a problem with the seals.

My wife uses a bit of washing up liquid in some water to clean ours, never had any probs.

I've been a window cleaner for approx 20 years now and I've always used washing up liquid and water (approximately the same strength you'd use to wash the dishes).
I've got to say, I haven't really noticed any problems with the windows (not that I'd admit it to my customers anyway lol :P)
I've seen some fancy products on the market that are meant to be the dog's ******* and like others have said, they are just a waste of money .... they cost a LOT more and do absolutely nothing more than traditional cleaning products !!
