L & B Utility Lodged & Braced Door

The width of the opening in wall is to small to fit a L & B 80" x 32" standard utility door. Is it easy to slim down this type of door by 3" or 4" to make it fit or would i be better off getting one made? I intend to get a carpenter to make the frame. The door is on special offer so should i go for the made one?

You could cut 2" off each side stile but it might look a bit strange.

If it's a standard L&B door (ledged and braced), then it's a simple job to rip an inch or two from each side. You won't affect its stability.

If, you have an F,L&B (framed, ledged and braced), then I wouldn't recommend it. The stiles are only about 90mm. As Zacs said, it would look very strange with a 40mm stile. It would still be stable though.
