Oddly(?) I never feel quite right when a French restaurateur removes the knife and fork from my plate after I've finished my starter, leaving them on the table to re-use when I get the main course. I know that it's the French way of doing things but it just seems wrong to me!

Somebody furiously scraping trying to gouge the last remaining yoghurt out of the pot. Also, spoons clanging against the sides of cereal bowls.

For me too it's the manic, wide eyed scraping of something like a yogurt pot ........and using toothpicks at the table.
