I'd get an electrician to look at it. The wind outside shouldn't affect your fire inside.

I thought perhaps it was because the safety mechanism was making it cut out due to the draught?
if you move it to another location where there isn't a draught, does it work properly? (where's the draught getting in?)
Could it be a downdraught (down the flue)? Maybe you could install a chimney cowel.

when it is a calm day it works fine and doesn't cut out,so I think it may be coming down the chimney like 237sj said.i wonder if I put a board up on the inside of the chimney and blocked it off would that cure it?
That should do it, Prendi.
Do put a small (9" x 3") vent in the board though, to keep the flue ventilated.
One learns something new every day. Never heard of an electric fire monitoring for draughts before.
Doesn't sound right does it, OG?

Maybe it's just an overly sensitive thermcouple of some sort that's being triggered by a gust of air.
I can't see how a draught would make an electric fire cut out. If it had a thermostat the draught (cold)would make it come on.
Perhaps it blows the heater over and cuts it out ;-)
Do the lights flicker on windy days too ?
Question Author
no OG,the light doesn't flicker, theire just cuts out.think I may put a board up the flue, thanks for all the replies.
