Switching Mattresses

This may seem a silly question....I've currently got a very comfortable divan bed that I'd like to move into the spare room-replacing it with a Victorian style metal bed frame in my room. But,as the mattress is so comfy,can I put that on the new bed frame,and put a cheaper mattress on the divan?

I'd try it out first. You might find the mattress on the metal bed frame isn't as comfy as on your divan..

I normally trade in my mistress every 5 years for a newer model, the firmer the better.
