Royal Mail Parcel Mix Up
We bought something on ebay and the seller sent it out with Royal Mail 1st class signed for.
It should of arrived today but didnt - upon checking, we realised we asked the seller to send it to an old address still saved on Ebay where I used to work and in my maiden name.
The building is empty and for let.
I presume Royal Mail left a 'something for you card' through the letter box.
Does anyone know how I can hopefully get my item ?
I cant just visit the closest post office as I dont have the correct proof of address or ID.
Really need a bit of guidance, thanks.

If the building is empty, there must be a letting agent who would be able to retrieve the card. EBay sellers are obliged to deliver to the address you give them, so that's what will have happened even if the postman could see it was empty.
If you still have any proof that you lived in the house, e.g. documents addressed to you there, and your marriage certificate showing the change of name, then the RM may well give you the package - but you need to check. If you know the agents, first step would be to ask them to retrieve the card for you.
