Pool Of Water In Fridge
22 Answers
When I opened the fridge this morning, there was a pool of water beneath the salad tray. I mopped it out and turned down the thermostat slightly. I don't know if it's working. How has it defrosted overnight? Could the termostat be broken? Something else to stress me out!

There should be a gutter at the back of the fridge(inside) somewhere near the bottom that collects defrost water which then drains out to the back through a small plastic pipe. Mould and debris can block the pipe resulting in a pool of water as ths gutter overflows. It is often possible to unblock the pipe by getting a piece of plastic tubing, poking it in the blocked pipe and blowing in the other end so that the air pressure clears the blockage. The alternative is a lot of poking with pipe cleaners or similar.
You may find this interesting. My daughter has a fridge freezer in an unheated part of the house & during a particular cold winter found pools of water in the fridge compartment, she was informed by a reputable engineer that this was caused by the ambient temperature outside the Fridge/Freezer being too cold to allow the F/F to work correctly. She put a small heater in the room & low & behold F/F working perfectly.
