My tumble dryer has started squeaking when it is drying.

Is there anything I can do to try and remedy it before having to shell out for getting a repair person out?

Thanks.

Could be a belt or a bearing probably will need a repairman before it gets worse :(
We had the same problem, ours was a felt drum seal, the seal was £9.00 but they wanted £90.00 to fit it, I fitted it myself in about an hour. It could also be something stuck like an underwire from a bra, seen that a few times.
Maybe the drum guides are worn allowing the drum to run off centre.

Thanks Brinjal and Ratter.
Mine would do that when the belt was wearing. My husband would buy the replacement and fix it himself.

I had that old drier for 30 years and only got rid when we moved and needed a smaller one. Ugly great square thing from Currys but worth its weight in gold this time of year.
