Because of the rain and damp weather,my little garden is looking very soggy, the petunia flowers in my baskets are going floppy(im still watering them, cos the rain doesn't actually penetrate through to the soil) and all though i'm trying to keep on top of the dead heading, some flowers are going mushy and brown, everything is just getting damp and mildewy, will it perk up again when(if) the sun ever comes out?I feel really dispirited with it all?
Yes things will recover lozzzz. Trim off anything mildewy or brown or mushy and if you can, move your pots and baskets out so that they get a good circulation of air around them to stop the mould and mildew taking hold. ....and SMILE!!
Lozzz,my little garden was feeling very sorry for itself on saturday and sunday, but we've had two days of relative dry weather, and things are looking much better again! I'm sure yours will improve too!
my hanging baskets look dreadfull with soggy petunias also..its just been a bad year for gardeners..with the extreme weather conditions..its just one of those things and all you can do is be positive and hope next year is better....in fact i wont be growing any petunias next year as they seem to get extra battered in the wind and rain..my hanging baskets look like they are early september..last year they were lovely and it does dissapoint you after all the effort but what can you do..its just the good old british weather..
