Best Surface For A Wheelchair Ramp.
The entrance to our holiday lodge is on a slope, you can drive or reverse up to the lodge entrance but it is a bit bumpy and we are looking to create a ramp up to it so one could disembark the vehicle on the level area . what would be the best surface for walking and pushing a wheelchair up, I thought concrete but would need a good gripping surface, decking timber would probably more in keeping with the lodge but again it would get slippery in the wintry weather. Either way I will need plenty of salt on the surface in the snow and ice. I just need a good anti slip surface.

Anne, im not sure how permanent that would be or how expensive as the ramp would probably be about 25 feet in length, I could maybe buy it on the roll and roll out as required, now thats a thought!
Boxy, Asphalt? as in tarmac? im not sure I want that on the farm at all to be honest, I hate the stuff and probably more expensive and not as long lasting as concrete, but thanks for the contribution.

Ratter, the ramp will have to comply with the Welsh building regs part M

A tamped concrete surface gives good slip resistance but you would have to 'salt' it throughout winter.
