Does Anyone Have A 'bleach Cleanable' Carpet?

A while back I bought a new carpet that was advertised as 'bleach cleanable'.

Thought that would be good for me as I have 5 grandchildren who visit often.

Well, the high traffic areas have now started to show a little grubbiness but now I am thinking, I was never given any instructions as to how to clean it with bleach.

I don't want to do the whole room so am frightened to use it anywhere in case it comes up lighter.

I suppose I could ring the shop but feel silly now that it has only just occurred to me to find out.

Any help, advice appreciated.

I've never heard that description - I'd phone them!
I've heard of them...they're made of 100% polypropylene and, yes, can be cleaned with bleach. Trouble with any "part cleaning"...you may end up needing to do the whole lot!

Oh thanks Gingejbee, I don't want to do the whole lot as its a 26ft lounge, presumably, I will need to water it down?
Millie....must be diluted a lot! Neat bleach is dangerous stuff and may physically damage the actual pile.
I'd start very weak and go a bit stronger if needed.
Mine are bleach cleanable too, but i haven't dared to try yet. They've come up well with carpet shampoo. I'd be interested to see how you get on!

Thanks for your help, will give it a tentative go over the weekend, Pixie, like you I am scared to do it.
silliemillie, have you tried carpet shampoo? If you do use bleach, you will have to get the diluted bleach back off again so why not rent a shampooer? I've bought one (two large muddy dogs) and it gets my polyprop bleach treatable carpet up like new just using ordinary carpet shampoo.

I think I will try the carpet shampoo & hope that does the trick before taking the bleach plunge.
Hi Yes we have a carpet that is bleach safe. I always clean small patches off with bleach and use a carpet cleaner to clean all of it. But I am tempted to try bleach in the water next time to bring it up better. It is fine. xx
