Thought it would be a good idea to sort out the filing cabinets. Wish I'd never started, I've got receipts for things we haven't got anymore. Have just stopped to make a cup of tea then I've got to finish it because its all over the floor and the furniture. Thats my Saturday accounted for.
Not much fun boxtops but have been putting it off for ages. The shredder is getting quite warm, but am watching an old Midsomer Murders, that helps a bit.
Oh don't, we have to do that job again soon, last time ended up just as you're saying giveup, hate the job but you have to finish it once started, ugh.
You have my sympathy I just did mine last week and realised I hadn't had a proper sort out of bills and stuff since 2007. Fortunately most things are now paper free so there was much recent stuff. Even so shredding it all took 3 days as our totally rubbish shredder kept over heating.
I did mine after Christmas. Can't believe the huge stack of paper ready to shred - now just got to find the time!!! The space where all the discarded paperwork was has miraculously (or rather annoyingly!) just healed up so you can't even see where it was, just amazing. I often think I'm drowning in newspapers and junk mail too .............
//buy another filing cabinet... works for me//
Quoi - very funny, thats what I did - now I have 3 all full to the brim with paperwork + 3 big plastic containers. Its not all my own though, I do all the publicity and admin for our church, nowhere to store it there either!
Well, it must be the weekend for it! I cleared ours out last night, shredded loads and streamlined the file. I had a card based concertina file which was bursting and had bust, now I'm determined to get it down to fill the 2 smaller plastic files ones I bought this morning. I'm going to put some important documents in a box and keep the folders for insurances and car stuff. How often to we really need half of this stuff?!!
We put it in a plastic sack - marked "shredded paper" out with the paper bin. They always take it but put it separately in the side of the bin lorry.
What else can you do with it Daisy?
Junk mail goes straight to the recycling bin, as do envelopes and silly stuff inserted into mail. All mail, bills and receipts are put into a plastic envelope for the month in question and at the end of the year I sort out the envelopes clearing out stuff that's not needed and the rest of the contents are then filed.
Helps to keep things manageable, and any catalogues are recycled within six months of their arrival.
//six months// ??
Gosh nun I wouldn't be able to see over the pile of seed, plant, fashion, Argos, Cotton Traders, Lakeland, Coopers, House of Bath, etc etc if I left them for 6 months!
