I know it's a bit of a minefield and there's so many contributing factors but has anyone found a decent deal as we are on a plan which expires 1st April and so are looking to change. Any opinions more than welcome. Thanks.

Dave there all the same m8 o/h changed ours last year no savings whatsoever!
Hi Dave, I've been with Scottish Hydro for the last 15/16 years and have just changed to Co-op Energy and saved £154 per year.
Try http://www.energyhelpline.com/fri/fri as I only found the Co-op on there.
Best of luck.
Eon. They actually gave me a £40 refund last year and my charges have gone down around £30 this quarter. They don't have a premium rate number either when you call them.
if you use the comparison websites they will want to know your current usage....hee hee, just made a joke!.....and your payment method and usually list the available options in your area with the one with the largest saving at the top of the list, but before you make any changes make sure the cheapest is the best option for you eg exit fee or not and stuff like that....we changed a couple of years ago to the cheapest available which also suited us and I regularly check to make sure we are on the best deal.

Also it might be worthwhile to go to moneysavingexpert.com and sign up to ....can't remember what he calls it.....but after sign up the site will alert you by email if any better deals turn up....done that too.

happy hunting!
just had another thought.......when we signed up to edf which is the best deal for us, whenever I do not agree with the amount they say we should pay by direct debit I just phone up and tell them how much I will pay monthly and they are happy to oblige....cos sometimes companies do ask for an over-inflated amount to be paid monthly.
The best deal for you will depend on lots of factors, particularly your consumption but also where you live, whether you want dual fuel, whether you want standing charges, whether you have Economy 7, whether you want an online tariff with paperless bills, whether you want to pay by DD and whether you want a fixed price deal and for how long.
The energy comparison sites are good provided you have pretty accurate info on your annual consumption.
You can also get cashback of maybe £30 if you switch through some comparison sites or via topcashback or quidco
