somewhere to store photographs
6 Answers
Is there something i can buy where i can store all my photographs? I'm getting fed up of keeping all my photos in shoe boxes in my cupboard! And dont really want to put them all in albums cos that would take ages and dont want to mix all the photos up! What do you keep all your photos in?

As we grow up, get married and leave homes our photographs of when we were young stay with our parents in their homes. They get old and eventually die (such is life) and our photographs of our childhood are either reclaimed by one of the siblings or get thrown out. Most of us find it difficult to see photos of our childhood when we have our parents in them and they are departed. I posed this question to colleagues of my age. It was a dilemma to them as well. I asked because, on a TV makeover program the presenter had suggested to the participant (who had a cluttered home) that she should get rid of all the old photograps of her children and keep only the best ones...shock horror......During the discussion we agreed that it is in the long run a sensible suggestion. How often do we see those photographs and when we do see them does it not fill us with a sense of sadness for the loss and years gone by. I rarely see the pictures of my childhood, i see my parents in them and it causes anguish. When i do see the photos of my own children i see myself and my wife in our youth and feel very very sad. Just a thought.
Well both my MuM and dad are long gone but I still keep their wedding photo on the wall in a frame and they married in 1926.
This is beside the point!1
In Wilkos you can get some nice photo boxes that are indexed so you can write on them "Holiday in wherever" and so on.You can organise all your piccies by subject and they are easy to store.

I'm so lucky, I managed to salvage all the family photos including photos from generations gone that my mum had always kept because a few years after we lost her, dad's girlfriend told him he should get rid of the past and live in the present, which she said meant chucking everything containing the past. I happened to be there when she told him that included photos, so I grabbed them!
