Painting Bits That Are Out Of Reach Over The Stairs
28 Answers
Am about to paint the hallway and stairs area. Does anyone recommend a particular device to get the bits done I can't reach and at least achieve a reasonable line between ceiling and wall.
Thanks

I don't do ladders, especially not over stairs so it was the only way to reach. It was a bit fiddly and you need a steady hand but to me any faff was worth not being up a ladder.
I've always used a ladder and a plank, as has been used for years, surprise surprise, H and E don't recommend this method though!

Take a look at the link below. I know it's for wall papering but the idea will be the same. Whatever you do, do not overreach as this is one of the most common ways to have an accident.

Shed's link is excellent. Not so daunting as you would think. Most people's problems with those rigs, is the wobble factor ;o(
That's what makes them uncomfortable. You'd be surprised how safe and solid they are if you take the trouble to lash everything down....... even screw it to the stairs or bannister rail.

Get a long handled brush as suggested by douglas ^^ The angled head will make for easier painting in awkward places and if it's Not long enough, do as I do and tape a piece of dowel rod or bamboo cane onto it. However, Do Not get one from Screwfix because it will cost you the addition of £5. delivery charge. You cold go to Amazon and get one at virtually half the price, along with free delivery.
