a warning / reminder to all that use rat /mouse poison please do not use the block form as this can be carried by rats or birds else where , this morning my dog found a block in our garden and managed to eat most of it before i realised what she was eating ,thankfully after a morning at the vets and a bill of £146 she should be fine , but if whom ever was trying to get rid of the rats had used pellets instead the rat would have eaten them where he found them and not tried to carry it away
Thanks for highlighting this Ruthann, I never knew you could even get them in block form - good to know if I ever see one in the garden in future so thank you.
How awful for your pup though - I sincerely hope she is on the mend today
Best wishes for a speedy recovery xx
With all due respect, as a professional pest controller for 13 years and regularly used these blocks I never had a problem, they are considered perfectly safe to use if used as directed. they have been around for many years and very rarely caused a problem, no more of a problem than any other rat poison to my knowledge.
It sounds like the blocks were used in an inappropriate place, probably by an amateur not following the instructions.
nazia i was not using them i wouldnt as i know rats will carry them away , ratter exactly used by people with no experience , peas yes be careful as you never know what dogs pick up
this is what a pest controller friend said "the answer is that unqualified people should NOT be able to purchase and use rodenticides, I know one of the industries governing bodies is working hard on such irresponsible usage. Rats will carry off block formulations."
