Do we always think that other people's lives are more interesting?

Someone said I had an interesting life this morning, when I posted a thread about going to a gig.

I think that the people with interesting lives are people with families, and children, etc.

I wonder if it's like a "grass is greener" thing, and we always think that other people's lives are interesting?

...what I should have said was that's the difference between soirees and gigs - one plays for Liverpool and the other for Man U.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure almost everybody else leads a more interesting life than me. Mine is a thing of seemingly endless tedium relieved only by a weekly visit to my masseur.
Jj, I made the comment. It was meant as a compliment to you. You always seem to be out and about doing things that I have never done. I said good for you and I meant it.
Being the senitent mamals we are we are naturaly curious about the world we live in unless that curiosity has been curtailed by experience. Consequently, we explore and investigate everything to a greater or lesser degree, originaly in the quest for food or shelter. So in our modern world it's not really surprising to find others think we have "interesting" lives, or live in a greener field than they do.

Tilly, thank you, and I understood it as a compliment. That was very nice of you.

It just made me think.

I do a lot of things because I'm on my own. Most of my friends are married, or have boyfriends who don't live in another country, lol. So I think of them, with their busy lives, and I'm just, well me at home, really. I even work from home, so I don't see people during the day, unless I have meetings. So I find things to do.

My pals usually come out to play on Friday nights, I suppose.

Great explanation, tree.
Nice answer treetops :)
My life to others looking in would seem quite boring but I am more than happy to poddle about doing the quiet things that I do. It is always nice to hear others stories though and you can learn something new every day.

I do envy people who are lucky enough to have children, but that's not to say I don't like hearing their stories, They often make me smile :o)

Tilly, you should go to gigs every now and then.

Support live music.

Of course there is always something to be jealous of in other people's lives.

For my part, I am happy with my lot. I have a loving wife of 43 years, 3 great children which whom we get on with extraordinarily well, and 2 lovely grandchildren. 3 or 4 times a year the whole family sit round a dinner table together to enjoy each other's company.

We are not rich in monetary terms, comfortable though, but blessed with family riches in abundance.

I'm very close to my goddaughter. She comes to stay with me quite often. It's fun to take her shopping and watch her cane my debit card. I think it would be nice to have children. Buy hey ho, not dwelling on that one.
I do go to gigs, jj, but not on a weekly basis.

Oh fab, Tilly.

Good you.

I / we are quite happy with our lives, don't see anyone with anything we want that we don't already have and I don't just mean that in the sense of material things.
A few less years on the clock would be nice, but can't manage that one so will have to live with it!
I don't call them gigs, though.:-)

But ... gigs is what they are called !
Happy with my lot. There is always some sort of drama going on.

JJ has it, according unto Chambers ;-)

GIG, a musician's booking to perform, especially for one night only. verb (gigged, gigging) intrans to play a gig or gigs.

I think my life is reasonably interesting, I find my work immensely interesting and study it in my own time due to the fascination.

The animals are very interesting, that will be a thing of the past very soon though, well, we will have the hounds and maybe a rabbit.

Just walking the hounds through town is quite an adventure as well, we love it :-)
