I was in Tesco today and bought a few bits and bobs, including a wee pedal bin for the bathroom. Forgotten to take my bags for life (again) so put a few things inside the bin and promptly left it at the checkout (after paying for it.)!

Called the store who can't find it at the checkout.

Now, I know that it's my fault, I should have picked it up. In my defence I had 2 small children with me so wasn't 100% on the ball, but surely the checkout girl must have noticed it after we left?

So irritated with myself.

Sometimes store staff are really on the ball and sometimes they are away with the fairies - you must have been in on an 'off' day. I once went to the ciggie counter in Asda and the lady said I had left my ciggies behind last time I was in and she had kept them for me, to this day I am sure they weren't mine, but very nice of her to make the effort though.

I would have thought that the check out girl would have had to move it so that there would be room for the next customers items.

I'm irritated at loosing £15 worth of stuff. Can't believe I didn't pick it up. Or that they can't find it.

she might have done, but perhaps someone put it back on the shelf,
as they won't know, remember which customer bought the item

Surely they can't/shouldn't just put items that must have been paid for by someone, back on the shelf? It was full of stuff too.

Do you still have your receipt, bit of a long shot but it might help your case.

Might be worth a phone call again later, 2sp? It could be that a different staff member picked it up and they haven't communicated yet. Or it could have been the customer after you. Annoying, though.

Yes, still have the receipt. I gave them the time and till number.

I think I might go back in tomorrow and see what they say.

You would think they could have kept it for a while (maybe at Customer Services?) to see if anyone came back for the items they had PAID for.

If they put all the stuff back on the shelves they will sell them again.

Worth a try. I think they might well replace it for you anyway, if you have the receipt. They are usually good like that.

Well, the proof will be when they find a wee pedal bin back on the shelf- but full of shopping!

How annoying, there must be a member of staff who remembers it, especially with stuff in it and if you can tell them what was in it.

I got some books from Oxfam a few weeks ago and left them on the bus! In a random twist of fate I had the bus number as I'd noted it to stick up for him in a compliment after he got a load of abuse just for doing his job.

They radio'd and located my books but ended up having to get two buses to the depot (on a big industrial estate) and back and wait around for an hour at reception the next day to get them back, that'll teach me!

A while back I left a bag of shopping on the shelf by the window where you pack your shopping. I rang them and they said a supervisor had picked it up and put it back on the shelves. The reason being it was all fridge stuff. They made a note of what I'd left and gave me my money back. This was in Asda.

I once left a pack of 24 toilet rolls [ on special] at Asda checkout, didn't miss them until I as putting the shopping away, rang Asda and they were at customer services waiting for me.

I have left my purse in the trolley and last week I left my handbag on the electric scooter handle in ASDA,i got them both back.thanks asda

Went back to Tesco today, they can't find my bin or my stuff! How anyone missed it I can't imagine. Must be as dippy as me.

I think the bloke behind me might have picked it up with his stuff.

I hope he enjoys my pedal bin, shower head and birthday cards...
