No Gas. Can I Use The Washing Machine?

Further to my previous question, I have no gas until next Thursday (and since Tuesday) thanks to the incompetence of the people that own our building. Can I still use my washing machine? I haven't dared yet. I'm not very technically minded. It's a siemans IQ500 and only has one pipe going into it from the wall. TIA

Do you mean that you use gas to heat your water?
Even so, I expect the washer (which will run on electricity) heats up the cold water

That pipe will probably be the cold water feed.

I doubt it would have a hot water feed - and I'm assuming you're asking about gas, as you have a gas boiler that heats your water?

Yes has ff says it should be ok. May take a little while longer to do a cycle though because it will have to heat the water it's self.

Thanks guys. Yes I have a combi boiler. Gas has been cut off in the whole building. The boiler has been unplugged until the gas man comes next thursday to check all the flats and the work which has been done. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I just didn't want to damage the machine as that's all I need at the mo.

It's a long time since we had a machine that had hot and cold water feeding it

Modern machines are cold water feed only. As you only have one pipe going into the washing machine, it's a safe bet that yours is modern.

So, yes, you can still use the washing machine as it will heat the cold water up to the required temperature itself.

Well, if there's only "one pipe going into it"....it's cold-fill only, as most machines have been for donkeys years.

Yep just checked ours, cold water feed only. I remember connecting one of ours up years ago and that was hot and cold water feed, must have been thinking about that.
