Bleach for the tiles etc, then wipe over with Dis.
Chlorine bleach IS a disinfectant!
Just to explain...."disinfectant" is a rather old-hat term for something that cleans by killing bacteria.....and chlorine is very good at that.
I use a specialist bathroom cleaner as bleach will not remove limescale and that way you don't get the smell.
I love bleach, I use it after every time i flush the toilet, I must get through about 4 bottles a week.
Bleach you have to be so careful with, if you accidentally spill on carpets, towels or curtains you will lose the colour and will completely ruin it.
....and it's also caustic because it's highly alkaline...so you could also lose some skin!
what d you want to remove when you clean? Bleach won't remove limescale, neither will things like dettox.
I'm sure someone once posted on here, that bleach only whitens germs, it doesn't kill them. I didn't believe that.

Thanks for the replies. I usually just use the cheapest thick bleach from somewhere such as Aldi for cleaning underneath sinks and toilet bowls and for doing the floor. I just wondered if disinfectant had other ingredients that were beneficial. Maybe the only difference is the perfume.
Bleach is a very powerful disinfectant, far more so than other proprietary disinfectants. One thimbleful in a bucket of water will kill practically any micr-organism with which it comes in contact.. Most people use about a 100 times as much as is needed. Think of the money you could save.
Most of my bleach ends up on the toilet mat (and ruins them!)
People with septic tanks don't use bleach in their toilets and don't die of dreadful diseases any more than those who use gallons of bleach. There is a lesson here.
Be careful to always flush the toilet after using bleach. If not and someone uses the toilet it could be disastrous . Urine and bleach together make poisonous fumes !!

Blimey, I think I might be using too much of the stuff. I tip about a cupful into a bucket of water when I clean the bathroom surfaces.
Thugulike, what cleaner do you use? I like the sound of one that gets rid of limescale while you clean :)
I hate bleach, won't have it in the house!
I just use lemon wipes and limescale remover plus Harpic toilet cleaner for the loo. Nearly all white and glass so have to keep on top of it.

Are there a lot of disappointed anglers downstream from you?

I have my own mini sewage treatment plant (no mains drainage in the village) - bleach and 'disinfectant' are very sparingly used (if at all). I love the bugs that digest my sewage and don't want to kill the friendly little microbes.

It doesn't hurt me & it's possible to keep stuff clean without nuking everything with bleach.

Modern life seems obsessed with killing bacteria - perhaps that's why there are so many allergies and sensitivities around.

You need to eat a peck of dirt before you die ...
