What make is your vacuum cleaner?
What wattage is it?
Did you know that the EU have made it illegal for us to buy a vacuum cleaner over the power of 1600 watts, and the ruling starts on the first of September 2014..
They have done this so we save electricity.
Only ten days to go!

Miele

Not sure

Why does it matter to me, I've already bought it?
It may matter when you need to replace it though, Eccles.
I have a Kirby. We bought it in 1984 and it's still brilliant, if a tad heavy
Mine's a Vax. Not sure what wattage.
Not another crazy idea please! I have those energy saving bulbs and they're horrible! Dim and probably don't help with mood or s.a.d.

If we go to low powered hoovers then this means spending more time hoovering in a dimly lit room so we can't even see what dirt we've missed? No thanks!

What are they going to do if we say no? Arrest us?
I have a Miele Tony, it will be a very long while before it needs replacing and the legislation will have changed......again.....
the legislation will have changed......again.....

Highly likely knowing EU legislation, Eccles.
Hoover and Electrolux - I have 2 (one in each hand) and have never bought a vac any less than 2000w.
I bet James Dyson is having a rethink!

I bet you sold it Theland, just like Tim Vine :o)
Miele Cat & Dog, best vacuum ever, IMO
I have a Dyson, not sure of its wattage.
Nobody has to scrap their vacuum, it is just buying new that it will affect.
Dyson are all fine as they don't make one that exceeds the current limit. Unfortunately the wattage is due to be dropped even further in a few years (2017) to 900w.
