Top Hat Help

Im a member of a street drumming band who's uniform is top hat and tails.

We have an all day gig on sunday and it is forecast rain. Now my top hat is made of stiff card with cloth over the top....is there any way of water proofing it ?

What ever you do, don't rub it down with mercury like the mad hatters used to:) Cling-film sound like an excellent idea.
