Led Adhesive-Backed Strip Lights Not Adhering

Anyone got any theories on this? It must be commonplace as the sellers have refunded me and don't want the product back. Basically, a very nice LED light but the 'adhesive back sticks to any surface' doesn't. I wonder if any ABers have their own tried and tested solutions.

I suppose the answer depends on whether you want them fixed permanently in one place....or if you want to move them about ?

Well, I can live with the consequences of permanence as its not on view. It's to downcast light on a work surface.
How about strong double-sided adhesive tape (carpet fixing type)?
What are you trying to stick them to? I admit I'd never heard of these until I saw them in someone's home the other day. They bought them from amazon and had outlined a display cabinet - it looked stunning. I'm planning on getting some myself.

So far I've seen fail: the adhesive backing they came with; carpet tape; an adhesive roll the company sent gratis
I'm fixing to plasboard kitchen cupboards
I suppose a 3M type type might do but my theory is that the expansion of the silicone strip when lit is a factor in it pulling away from adhesive backings.
Ironically before I bought these, I got a set from lidl that has stuck like jam to a carpet and is going strong.
Have tried the foam type of double sided sticky tape, Mosaic ?.
Not casting aspersions on your cleaning regime but...........
is there a hint of cooking residue on the underside of your units forming a barrier to proper adhesion?
I bought some from Brightlightz last year for inside the caravan. They're still stuck firmly a year on.
I would also ask if you have thought a good degreasing of surface is required first. I would use caustic solution then something like methylated spirit
I got some strips of Velcro that needed sticking to our plastic door frame, outside. I removed the strip to reveal the sticky side and they stuck to the door frame, but they soon came off and wouldn't stay stuck - my solution - silicone sealant .... they haven't come off since I applied some :)

No offence taken Douglas. I prepped the surface by cleaning with sugar soap, rinsing and drying, then swabbed with methylated spirit and left to air dry.

Thing is, the company's double-sided tape stuck to the plasboard fine. And was a sod to remove. But the light strip pulled away from it.

I will try some foam-backed nomorenails type

The problem as I see it with using silicone sealant is I'd still have to fix it in place while the sealant dried and cured.
I would say silicone sealant as well. As long as the surface is dry, it'll stick to anything.

Use short pieces of masking tape across the lighting strip (at right-angles to it), until the silicone has gone off. :o)))

Will try builder - thanks.
