I like to think of myself as a relatively good cook, but, I just cannot cook rice, so I bought a microwave rice steamer, guess what, I still can't cook rice :(
Does anyone use one of these things and have success?
It's all sticky, I didn't rinse it for the microwave as I read somewhere that you don't need to, if I do it on the pot then I rinse the bejeezus out of it but it still ends up like glue.
Are you cooking sticky rice ? Otherwise don't mess with it like stirring and suchlike. It releases the... starch I think it is, and it makes it sticky.
I do mine in a saucepan. I do not rinse it. I bring the water to the boil, add some salt then the rice. I boil that for twelve minutes (none of this crap about waiting till all the water has been absorbed), decant into a sieve and enjoy. Nice and fluffy, don't need a fork to fluff it up. Mind, I only use basmati.
